Saint Stephen & the Children’s Crusade, a historical adventure musical based on true events, explores the meaning, and power, of friendship. And it features a cast of all young actors!
Stephen, a young boy living in 13th century rural France, yearns for a better life for himself and his best friends, Hugo and Emeline. On Stephen’s twelfth birthday, he has a vision that shakes his small world.
With belief that he must change the course of his life for the good of the world he convinces his friends to join him on a pilgrimage. Stephen and his friends venture forth on a perilous journey, eventually adding thousands of children to their ranks.
While their noble endeavor may lead to adventure and glory, it might also destroy the very friendships that Stephen treasures most.
So, no matter if you’re a child, or child-at-heart, join the crusade! Because friends don’t leave their friends behind.
Sam Sultan

Sam Sultan is a New York based composer, actor, and teaching artist. Sam started singing in his 4th grade choir and never looked back. Sam is a proud AEA and DGA member.
Sam’s first original musical for young actors, Casting Breakdown, was performed in 2013 at Voices Studios in Scottsdale, Arizona, followed by Summit in 2014. Saint Stephen & the Children’s Crusade, a historical-adventure musical for young actors, was selected to take part in the Spring 2020 Apples & Oranges THEatre Accelerator cohort.
